About Us

Sean

Sean Howie

Web Developer and Software Tester

Sean is the techie of the group. He is the one who created and designed this site, and he does all the back-end maintenance to make it run smoothly. He graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2017 with a degree in computer sciences, and it was his desire to see Silicon Valley that led to this trip (I know, what a nerd, right?). He is an aspiring web developer and has worked on multiple websites including Cantraybridge College, Magic Lantern Books, and United Glasgow FC,, a football (soccer) club which he also plays for. He is well-versed in a large array of programming languages, and when he’s not on the computer you’ll often find him rocking out in the mosh pit or playing with his dog Amber. Directly following this trip he will start his new job as a Software Tester at Inside Biometrics International. Learn more his work at his website, sgh-designs.com, and check out his LinkedIn here

Michaela Meyer

Writer and Journalist

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington before attending college at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. I studied abroad twice through Pepperdine, in London both times. I took advantage of the cheap flights and proximity to Europe, traveling to seventeen different countries during my time abroad. I graduated cum laude from Pepperdine in April of 2018 with a degree in English Literature and Philosophy. During my last year at Pepperdine I worked on the Graphic, the University’s award-winning newspaper. You can read some of my articles here, and check out my LinkedIn here. I was also the Senior Editor of Pepperdine’s scholarly journal, Global Tides. I’m interested in going into publishing or possibly freelance writing, with both music and travel being passions of mine.

James is the most artistically talented of the group. He completed his HND at City of Glasgow College, and will continue to work towards a degree in 3D Computer Animation at Glasgow Caledonian University. James is also a bit of a “Canadaphile.” He spent a year living in Toronto and may end up moving back to the Great White North again someday.

Glenn Fell

Kayak Coach and full time thrill seeker

Glenn is an adventure seeker, originally from Northern Ireland. He attended Kelvin College in Glasgow, and is into extreme sports, working as a skiing and kayaking instructor. Through his company Acorn, he has been able to work in many exciting locations such as Spain, Wales, France, and—come September—Hong Kong. Since he will still be kayaking his way across France at the beginning of this trip he will only be joining us for the second half, from Santa Barbara on.
